Image #10 Describe: streaks of light with the text $200 and FREE! able to be made out form the light. The background is much darker. Interpret: This is likely a digital monitor in a dark room with some kind of ad on display Theorize: The photographer likely used the monitor as the sole source of light for this photo, and then zoomed and adjusted the lens once the shutter was opened, and was set to a very slow shutter speed. Judge: I like it, it has an interesting commentary on consumerism.
Describe: Curved lights in different opacities cover a black background. There are varying intensities of light and dark. Interpret: The moving camera captured light as it was frantically being moved about in the image, creating this almost whimsical picture. This was most likely cast by an ordinary light source of some sort, maybe a small desk lamp or an outside light. The ambiguity of the photograph makes it difficult to tell. Theorize: The idea that the ordinary can be made new and interesting by simply "shaking things up". Judgement: I love messing with the light qualities of a camera and seeing the product of it. All of these images are very interesting to look at, but this is my personal favorite because of how vague it is. You genuinely can't tell what the original image was.
Image #3 Describe: An abstracted image. There are lighter flat planes in the foreground and the background is very black. The emphasis is put on the left side of the picture plane due to the movement that is created there. Interprete: This picture is very distorted and therefore creates an ambiguity in the subject matter. Theorize: This picture could be about the way that common objects could be beautified when broken down to their simple components. Judge: It's very unusual and I like it.
