10 best of week 10/10/14

  1. Describe: A body of rippling water with accompanying trees. The image is somewhat distorted.
Interpret: An image of a pond that was taken as the camera was being shaken or moved in some way.
Theorize: This almost creates a double rippling effect, almost as though the camera is rippling as well as the water. While the idealogical message is unclear to me, there's more of a visual message created as the subject and the tool used to photograph the subject are both, in some way, distorted.
Judgement: I think this is very interesting. I usually don't like things I can't read into as much, but I do really like looking at this piece because of the distorted quality.

  2. Image #10
Describe: A long wooden structure, with partial, spotted shadows, and a building with square windows extending at an angle away from the viewer, as well as a tall streetlamp.
Interpret: A photo taken in the early evening, under a shaded area, of a very long bench from the corner to accentuate its horizontality
Theorize: This is a very well taken photo, edited adn exposed as to capture all of the information in the shot without undrexposing too much.
Judge: I like it, the shadows seem a little extreme at points, but on the other hand, it helps contribute to the drama.

  3. Photo #3
Describe: a picknick table; shadows; wooden panel on the ground; trees in the background; plant in the foreground; sun shining
Interpret: photo taken at sunrise; picknick table is in the woods; mist in the background from early morning; lighting is very dramatic
Theorize: The photo is describing a relaxed setting; however, the harsh shadows and light gives the picture a certain edgy feeling. The picture makes me feel like its about a person who likes the quietness of being alone. That the world and reality can be a bit too loud sometimes and this place is like a safe haven for them.
Judgment: I like it because of the composition and lighting
