ten best of 10/24/14

  1. Describe: Fence, square shapes, leaves and nature in background, blurry background, clear foreground
Interpret: Behind this metal fence is a tree. The leaves on the tree are dead, and the tree doesn't appear to be doing well itself. There is also very light and blurry architecture in the background, possibly a parking garage.
Theorize: The tree is being forced into unnatural habits because of the industrialization of humans, consequently harming our environment.
Judge: I like the composition of the photo, like the placement of the tree and subtle background. I also like that the fence is very focused but you can still see the tree pretty well.

  2. image #5

description: trees and shadows stand outside of a building that has a window. There are also cut plants that lie on a bare floor.
interpretation: Palm trees and bushes that were cut down lie on a mulch surface. The window shows the ground floor of the building, due to its distance from the ground. The shadows are almost as tall as the trees.

theorizing: The height of the shadows indicate that the photo was taken in either the morning or the afternoon. The bushes were probably cut down for cosmetic reasons, or for opening space for the window.

judgement: The play between trees and shadows give the image a greater sense of occupied space. The height of the window gives an interesting element to the otherwise overwhelming number of organic objects.I think this image was very effective overall in creating an interesting composition

  3. Describe:Building, Trees and shadows, moss.
Interpret:It is a multistory brick building surrounded by trees with Spanish Moss. It is either in the morning or late afternoon because of the intense shadows.
theorize: The conflict between organic and inorganic causing interesting lines and shapes. There is a foreground, Mid, and background with makes a nice composition.
