Description: Window, blinds, curtain, glass vase, sharp on right side of image and blurry on left side of image Interpretation: The vase is distorting the blinds because of the ridges in the class, making the focus of the image the vase. The original look of the blinds highly contrasts this rigid, fish bowl type distortion of the blinds through the vase. The light source, coming from the window, casts a large shadow on the bottom and left area of the image. This lighting, again, highlights the interesting pattern created through the glass. Theorize: Placing a simple object, such as the vase, completely changes the perspective of the image. Rather than it just being a window, the vase adds a unique composition and view that can not be achieved alone. Judgement: I really like the picture, especially the focus on the glass. I think it creates an interesting pattern.
Image #7 Description: A window, blinds, window frame, string with a pendant hooked onto it. The pendant is cracked. A brick wall to the right. Interpretation: The pendant is used to draw the blinds. The sun, natural light, is on the left side of the window. The right side of the window frame is indoors. The window is frosted just to let the light in. Theorize: This is in a bathroom. This is a public bathroom. This is a window in a public bathroom, probably in FAC. Judgement: I love the verticality of this picture, and the pendant at the end of the string breaks up the composition nicely. I love the light streaming in from the left, and the frosted glass gives the lighting a soft glow and it is a wonderful.
Image #10 Description: This is a brick floor. Two plastic objects set on wheels. The back wall is horizontally laid in brick. Interpretation: These are two janitorial buckets in front of a building. One holds a mop and the other holds rags and chemicals. Theorize: These objects were stopped in front of a public bathroom. The janitor is inside doing a routine cleaning. Judgement: This piece comes off as oddly conversational. I like how the the cart and the bucket are tilted at a 45 degree angle and it looks like they could be talking to each other. In this sense, this piece makes me happy. The vertical lines running through the floor conflicting with the horizontal lines in the background also make the piece more aesthetically interesting with patterns.
