ten photos 10-9

  1. Describe: A person sitting at a desk in front of a screen that says learn. There aren't any other people in the photo.
Interpret: An empty dark class room that is going to show a slideshow.
Theorizet: He forgot his glasses and has to sit close to see. He's had a bad day and didn't want to have to interact with people.
Judgement: I think this is one of my favorites so far this year. It's well composed and very simple and quite. It has great background space, which combined with the foreground creates a lot of conflict.

  2. Describe: An open HP laptop, a nature background (both on the screen and behind the laptop), multiple folders on the desktop, low contrast
Interpet: The laptop is in a natural setting, and there is a nature background on the desktop. The desktop background highly resembles the natural setting the laptop is in. However, the laptop is much sharper than the surroundings. While this person is out in nature, he/she would prefer to look at his laptop screen with the picture of grass rather than really enjoying his settings.
Theorize: Technology is taking over our ability to appreciate nature. Rather than paying attention to our surroundings, we are focused on our laptops and phones.
Judgement: I really like the composition of the image, and the meaning behind the image as a whole. I think playing with lighting and different angles would be really nice too. Overall I really like it though!

  3. Image 1:
Describe: A person using a laptop at a table. There is a lamp on the table, and a keyboard sits across from the figure. Light shines from a single window across from the viewer. There is a tree outside. The wall we can see is made of brick. The man is dressed semi-formally in a collared shirt.
Interpret: This man is older. The laptop is a macbook. The table is a desk. The view outside is a treetop, suggesting the room is on a third or fourth floor. His eyes are fixed on the keyboard instead of the screen.
Theorize: The man is trying to keep up with advancing technology, and his hands appear to be relaxed, moving slowly to navigate the laptop. His eyes are fixed on the keyboard, suggesting he's having issues with the computer. More adjusted people can navigate a computer without looking at the keys or trackpad.
Judgement: I like the composition and placement of the things on the desk. The tangle of cords adds a hint of interest. I like that we can see the man's profile. I would suggest adjusting the exposure/shadows/blacks so that the top of his head doesn't blend with the back wall. I like the contrast between the shadows and the light source out the window.
